7. I tried to connect to IRC with ./server irc.3segment.org it says host can not be found or timed out, what is causing this error ?

Answer We use CNAME in DNS to roundrobin are IRC Servers, usually when that host not found or timeouts are from when one of our servers are offline or its ip has changed and DNS information is being updated so that is why you are seeing that error. You can also use the IRCD's hostname to connect instead of the "Alias Name IRC". The list of IRC Server names can be found at http://www.3segment.org/irc.html

8. What Operating Systems do you run ?

Answer We run various Platforms of different OS's. For servers mostly FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Linux and also Windows Servers. On the Network we have Cisco IOS and also various versions of firmware that is compatible with the Linksys WRT Routers. Some are version v1 all the way to version v3.

9. Does 3segment have shell accounts for the public ?

11. What DNS hosting do you use ?

Answer We use different DNS hosting from a few different public free DNS providers. Heres a few that we are currently using DynDNS, Zoneedit, and No-ip.com.

12. Where can I get a client to connect to IRC ?

Answer If your using Linux or BSD there is irssi and bitchx, they are both console based clients and for GUI theres Xchat which is also available for Windows. The URL for each of the clients, can be found here for IRSSI, BitchX, Xchat and MIRC for windows.
